Policies

At The K9 Hangout, we provide structured, personalized care in a home-based environment focused on safety, routine, and quality over quantity. Please review our policies carefully before booking any service.

General Policies

Meet & Greet Requirements

A Meet & Greet is required for all new daycare and boarding dogs prior to approval.

First-time boarding dogs must complete a mandatory overnight trial before any extended boarding stay can be approved.

Training services require a paid training evaluation prior to enrollment.

All services are approval-based and not automatically accepted.

Vaccination & Health Requirements

Dogs must:

  • Be current on Rabies

  • Be current on DHPP/DA2PP

  • Be current on Bordetella

  • Be flea, tick, and parasite free

  • Be free of contagious illness

Female dogs in heat are not accepted during daycare or boarding stays.

The K9 Hangout reserves the right to refuse service to any dog showing signs of illness, unsafe behavior, or excessive stress.

Payment Policies

Boarding

  • A 50% deposit is required within 24 hours of invoice delivery to hold your reservation.

  • Remaining balance is due on the first day of the stay.

  • Bookings are not confirmed until deposit is received.

Daycare

​Payment is due before pickup.​

​

Training​

  • Payment is due within 24 hours of invoice delivery.

  • Same-day or last-minute bookings may require payment in full upfront.​

  • Card payments may include processing fees

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Non-Holiday Bookings
Deposits are refundable only within 3 days of booking. After 3 days, deposits become non-refundable.

Holiday Bookings

Holiday deposits are non-refundable, but bookings may still be modified based on availability.

​

No Refunds

No refunds will be issued for:

  • Early pickups

  • Shortened stays

  • Unused days

  • Behavioral dismissal from services

​

Daycare packages and training packages are non-refundable.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Policies

Weekday Hours

Drop-Off: 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Pick-Up: 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM

Weekend Hours​

Drop-Off: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Pick-Up: 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM

​

Clients select specific 15-minute appointment windows for arrivals and departures.

  • More than 5 minutes late without communication may incur a $15 late fee

  • More than 1 hour late without communication may result in canceled service
     

No pickups or drop-offs are available on actual holidays.

Boarding Checkout Policy

Boarding checkout time is by 10:00 AM.

Pickups after 10:00 AM will incur a daycare charge.

Behavior & Safety Policies

Dogs are grouped based on temperament, energy level, play style, handling needs, and overall compatibility.
 

For safety and structure, dogs may be:​

  • Crated

  • Rotated

  • Tethered

  • Leashed

  • Given structured downtime or decompression periods

​

While dogs are always supervised, owners acknowledge that interactions between dogs carry inherent risk.
 

The K9 Hangout reserves the right to separate, restrict, or dismiss any dog displaying unsafe, highly disruptive, or excessively stressed behavior.
 

Owners are financially responsible for damage or injury caused by their dog to people, property, or other animals.

Senior Dogs & Medical Needs
 

Senior dogs and dogs with medical conditions are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Owners acknowledge that these dogs may carry increased risk during daycare, boarding, or training activities.

Medical Emergencies
 

In the event of illness, injury, or emergency, The K9 Hangout will attempt to contact the owner and emergency contacts immediately.
 

If the owner cannot be reached, the owner authorizes The K9 Hangout to seek veterinary care deemed necessary.
 

Owners are fully responsible for all veterinary expenses incurred during their dog's stay.
 

The K9 Hangout is not liable for complications resulting from:
 

  • Pre-existing conditions

  • Stress-related illness

  • Age-related complications

  • Emergency medical decisions made in good faith

Abandonment Policy

Dogs left beyond their scheduled pickup time without communication for more than 48 hours may be considered abandoned.

Owners remain financially responsible for all accrued charges.

If abandonment occurs, The K9 Hangout reserves the right to surrender the dog in accordance with local laws and regulations.

Media Release

Unless otherwise requested in writing, owners grant permission for The K9 Hangout to photograph or video their dog for use on:

  • Social media

  • Marketing materials

  • Website content

  • Promotional materials
