Frequently asked questions
Do you accept unaltered dogs?
At The K9 Hangout, we provide structured, personalized care in a home-based environment focused on safety, routine, and quality over quantity. Please review our policies carefully before booking any service.
Do dogs interact freely all day?
No. Dogs participate in structured, supervised interaction with rest periods, crate time, rotation, and decompression built into the day.
What should I bring for boarding?
Please bring:
• Pre-portioned food
• Medication, if applicable
• Leash
• Any comfort items your dog may need
If your dog is destructive with bedding or fabric items, clients must provide their own bedding and accept the risk of possible damage or destruction.
Do you offer walks?
Walks may be provided on a case-by-case basis depending on the dog, schedule, weather, and safety considerations.
Do you provide updates?
Yes. Photos, videos, and updates are regularly provided throughout your dog’s stay.
Can my dog stay if they’ve never boarded before?
Yes, but all first-time boarding dogs are required to complete:
1. A Meet & Greet
2. A mandatory overnight trial
This helps evaluate how your dog adjusts to the environment, routine, and overnight care setting.
Do you use crates?
Yes. Crates and structured downtime are part of maintaining safety, decompression, healthy boundaries, and routine.
Dogs sleep in crates at night for the most part, although special circumstances may be handled on a case-by-case basis.
What happens if my dog becomes sick during their stay?
You will be contacted immediately. If necessary, veterinary care will be sought using the emergency authorization provided in your client forms.
Are bookings automatically approved?
No. All bookings are manually reviewed and approved based on availability, temperament, fit, and scheduling.
