Our Mission
To provide dogs with a place where they can feel safe, be understood, and build confidence — whether through structured play, restful boarding, or positive training.
We’re here to help owners too, by teaching them how to communicate better, build trust, and enjoy life with their dogs to the fullest.
Our Story
Hi, I’m Stephanie, founder of The K9 Hangout — a home-based dog boarding and daycare service in Bellflower, CA, where pups are cared for like family.
My story with dogs began with Nala, my first dog and the one who changed everything for me. She’s smart, stubborn, and incredibly patient — the one who’s helped me welcome every new dog into our home. Then came Harley, a gentle soul whose owner left him behind at the same training facility Nala attended. Harley’s journey through cancer and a recent TPLO surgery taught me the importance of compassion and tailored care for dogs with medical needs. And then there’s Bailey, my first foster fail from Korea, who reminded me that sometimes love finds you when you least expect it.
Over the years, I’ve fostered more than a dozen dogs — from seniors and shy rescues to energetic puppies — each one teaching me something new about patience, empathy, and the bond we share with animals.
Before launching The K9 Hangout, I worked in IT for several years. But my heart was always with dogs. So I decided to take a leap of faith and follow my passion. I began volunteering at local rescues, attending seminars, and studying canine behavior and training. Today, I’m committed not only to caring for dogs but also to helping owners better understand their companions through education and training.

At The K9 Hangout, I focus on quality over quantity. I keep a small group of dogs so that each one gets individual attention, structure, and enrichment. Whether your pup loves to socialize, needs space to decompress, or has special medical or behavioral needs, I tailor their experience to make sure they feel safe and happy.
You’ll often find me out in the yard running play sessions, working with pups on leash manners, or setting up enrichment activities like sniff mats and slow feeders. And yes — you’ll get plenty of photos and videos, because I know how much peace of mind that brings when you’re away.
But The K9 Hangout isn’t just about dogs — it’s about community. I love organizing local pop-up events, dog-friendly activities, and fundraisers that give back to the Bellflower and Long Beach area. From puppy yoga to seasonal pet fairs, my goal is to create spaces where dog lovers connect, small businesses shine, and rescues get the attention they deserve.
When life gets busy, I’m here to make sure your pups are safe, loved, and thriving — just like they would at home. ❤️

MEET OUR PACK

Nala
Nala was my first dog and has been with me since she was just 8 weeks old. Adopted from a breeder, she’s full of personality and has taught me patience, consistency, and so much about canine behavior.

Harley
Harley joined us not long after Nala. He was abandoned at the training facility where Nala was doing her board and train, and once the two bonded, I couldn’t leave him behind. Harley has faced major medical challenges, including surgery and cancer treatment, but his strength and sweet nature inspire me every day.

Bailey
Bailey, my first “foster fail,” came all the way from Korea. What started as a temporary foster turned into forever the moment I met her — she instantly fit right in and completed our little pack.

Together, they’ve each shaped the way I care for dogs today — with patience, compassion, and an understanding that every pup has their own story and deserves to feel safe, loved, and at home.
